A proposal for control of local service subsidies

A consideration of methods for improving the economic situation of feeder and local air services. They are now dependent on the federal government for both their certificates and for a large part of their income. To insure an efficient use of federal subsidy funds, it is suggested that the government use economic incentives in dealing with the local airlines. The author offers a proposal for introducing competition into the granting of monopoly routes. The proposal is evaluated in terms of its relation to public policy goals, the Civil Aeronautics Board, new and existing local service carriers.
