A formulation of a nonlinear discrete programming problem, called the assignment interference problem, and a description of a solution procedure. The assignment interference model that is derived is applicable to such problems as determining a program of minimum frustration for a student wishing to take several courses at the same time, or for selecting pieces of cargo for supply trips when limited shipping capacity is present. 12 pp.
