Paper prepared for the 29th National Meeting of the Operations Research Society of America held in Santa Monica May 19, 1966. The authors describe an inventory management proposal known as the "systems approach to base stockage" or, more simply, the base stockage model. The discussion includes (1) the development of the model, and (2) the design and execution of its test at an Air Force installation.
