In answer to the problem of achieving the precise envelope delay equalization required by the stringent tolerances imposed on modern high-speed communication channels, this paper presents a readily programmed algorithm for obtaining optimum (in a least-squares sense), realizable, rational function network approximants for an arbitrary envelope delay, given an adequate first approximation to the prescribed delay characteristic.
