A translation of that portion of the Andreev Russian Tale-Type Index that was not included in the 1961 Aarne-Thompson international index. Andreev's work differs from other national indexes in that it is not a catalogue prepared to provide a complete bibliography of published Russian tales; it is rather a rough translation of Aarne's original index, with plot summaries added. The stories and tales are classified by group: (1) animal tales, (2) ordinary folktales, and (3) religious tales. Andreev's "Preface" and "Appendix" (in which he proposes a classification scheme for legends) are included. 56 pp. Ref.
This report is part of the RAND Corporation paper series. The paper was a product of the RAND Corporation from 1948 to 2003 that captured speeches, memorials, and derivative research, usually prepared on authors' own time and meant to be the scholarly or scientific contribution of individual authors to their professional fields. Papers were less formal than reports and did not require rigorous peer review.
