Discussion of a mathematical optimization problem of redistributing the Poisson demands at a number of stochastic service facilities so as to maximize an appropriate profit criterion. Service facilities (supplies) consist of multiple channels in parallel with the service time of each channel having a general distribution. Differing from previous redistribution problems, supplies here are assumed fixed in size and location and it is the demands for commodity or service that can be redistributed. A model for optimization consists of two steps: (1) a graphical procedure to satisfy the Kuhn-Tucker conditions necessary and sufficient for optimality; and (2) translation of the graphical procedure for finding a feasible solution to a transportation problem. An example of the model is one in which the customers are demands for a single product and the service facilities are supplies of that product positioned at different locations within a given region. 19 pp.
