A Tree Grapher for the Linguist.
Expert InsightsPublished 1971
Describes a general-purpose program used in the MIND (Management of Information through Natural Discourse) system for graphically displaying finite trees. The program is based on a simple recursive algorithm that generates the display using a single deterministic walk of a tree that has been stored in binary representation. Modifications are discussed that allow the program to draw infinite trees and arbitrary nets. 20 pp. Ref.

This publication is part of the RAND paper series. The paper series was a product of RAND from 1948 to 2003 that captured speeches, memorials, and derivative research, usually prepared on authors' own time and meant to be the scholarly or scientific contribution of individual authors to their professional fields. Papers were less formal than reports and did not require rigorous peer review.
