Sequential procedures for testing missile accuracy

Let (X,Y) denote the rectangular coordinates of the point of impact of a shot at a target. A measure of the scatter of the distribution of (X,Y) that is of importance in assessing missile accuracy is a multiple of the sum of the standard deviations of X and Y. This paper provides sequential tests of hypotheses about this parameter under the assumption that successive shots at the target can be treated as a random sequence from a bivariate normal distribution. Tables of the approximate operating characteristic and average sample size functions of the test are provided.
