NATO's interacting models of national mobilization

Examines two different approaches by which NATO nations plan to mobilize their resources to reinforce NATO's Central Region during a crisis. A continental model and an Anglo-American model of mobilization are compared, and their interactions during the reinforcement process are described. The author identifies problems likely to be encountered in managing the flow of reinforcement resources made available by simultaneous national mobilizations and suggests specific areas wherein joint planning could lead to improvements.
