An application of linear programming methods to month-to-month airlift planning within the U. S. Military Air Transport Service (MATS) Linear programming methods are substituted for trial-and-error calculations in an attempt (1) to diminish the time required to adapt plans to radical changes in the airlift problems and (2) to increase the productivity of MATS' resources.
