The first 1972 issue of a monthly publication prepared for the Advanced Research Projects Agency, as part of a RAND project systematically monitoring Soviet scientific and technical literature. [Geosciences Bulletin], Series A, consists of abstracts, annotations, translations, book reviews, and analytical surveys of current Soviet and East European open-source scientific literature related to the detection of underground nuclear explosions. Subjects covered include seismology (excluding engineering seismology, seismic zoning, and macroseismic effects of earthquakes), crustal and upper mantle investigations, static high-pressure and shock wave research, and underground nuclear explosions. The abstracts are divided into sections according to subject, subarranged by main author. Each issue includes an appendix that lists alphabetically within different groups of publications (periodicals, irregular publications, monographs, etc.) all references used in that issue. The last issue of each volume (No. 12) consists of a subject index of references used in that volume. Previous volumes appeared as RM-6300-ARPA. 50 pp.
This report is part of the RAND Corporation Report series. The report was a product of the RAND Corporation from 1948 to 1993 that represented the principal publication documenting and transmitting RAND's major research findings and final research.
