Describes the RAND Abstract and Index system, which is a set of computer programs that are written in PL/I. This system was written for the RAND Corporation and tailored to meet the needs of its Publications Department. The functions it performs include: maintaining a Master Catalog, producing lists of selected abstracts, and producing lists of citations, abstracts and indexes. This report describes the current implementation of the system; however, it can easily be adapted to meet the specific requirements of other organizations.

This report is part of the RAND Corporation Report series. The report was a product of the RAND Corporation from 1948 to 1993 that represented the principal publication documenting and transmitting RAND's major research findings and final research.
