Oil and Gas Supplies for California

Past and Future

Richard Nehring

ResearchPublished 1975

This report is part of a major RAND study to identify and analyze energy policy issues facing the State of California. It is meant to be read as a supplement to the main report of the study effort, Energy Alternatives for California: Paths to the Future, R-1793-CSA/RF. It provides a more detailed historical survey of California's oil and gas supplies and a more detailed description and exposition of the three projections of oil and gas supplies for California to the year 2000 than was given in R-1793. The appendixes present (1) an extensive collection of historical series of oil and gas supply data, together with an accompanying discussion and evaluation, and (2) a comparative survey of projections of oil and gas availability.
