Productivity Growth in Industrial Countries at the Sectoral Level, 1963-1974.
ResearchPublished 1977
Develops and assembles indexes of output, labor input, and capital stock for Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States for the years 1963-1964. Disaggregation is at the level of ten sectors, including government. Indexes are analyzed for evidence of deceleration or acceleration in growth rates of labor productivity and capital-labor ratios. As a point of comparison, the authors tested the aggregative Christensen-Cummings-Jorgenson data at the national level for eight countries in 1963-1973. The data developed in this study can provide a basis for future research into policy issues related to productivity. 107 pp. Ref.
