Merton E. Davies, Frank Y. Katayama, James A. Roth

ResearchPublished 1978

An update of the control net of the surface of Mars. The current net includes data from many Viking orbiter pictures and constrains the coordinates of the Viking 1 landing site, located on an orbiter picture, to values determined by the Lander Radio Science Team. Areographic coordinates of 4138 control points and the identification of many of them, marked by the authors on U.S. Geological Survey maps, are contained in appendixes. Another appendix lists control points with letter or name identifications. 91 pp. Ref.
