Summarizes the presentations made at the ninth annual meeting of closed-cycle magnetohydrodynamics (CCMHD) specialists, held in 1978 at Rand, Santa Monica. The first section of the proceedings reviews the activities of the Joint Liaison Group and the current status of the U.S. and Dutch CCMHD programs. The second section discusses the closed-cycle programs of the Tokyo Institute of Technology and several U.S. research organizations (NASA Lewis Research Center, Argonne National Laboratory, General Electric). The third section describes individual experiments and studies. Two appendixes list the meeting's agenda and participants. 62 pp.
