Cost-Quantity Relationships in the Airframe Industry

A discussion of the progress or learning curve used to estimate the cost of aircraft equipment and other types of products for both military and civilian consumption, as well as the cost of airframes. This report attempts to indicate whether the conventional progress curve, which is linear on logarithmic grids, is an accurate description of the relationship between unit cost and cumulative output. (The Progress Curve Computer, 1959, facilitates calculation of the relationship between cost and quantity for selected slopes.)
