English-language abstracts of 66 articles from Soviet technical literature on the effects of strong explosions, particularly nuclear explosions, and their simulation in the laboratory and in the field. The fourth in a series, this report covers articles mainly appearing in 1971 and early 1972. The abstracts are grouped under 14 headings: nuclear explosion effects, explosions in various media, shock waves in gases, shock waves in liquids, shock waves in solids, flow past bodies, ablation studies, high-pressure effects, electromagnetic field-plasma interaction, ionospheric effects, radiation damage, laser effects on materials, mechano-electromagnetic effect, and miscellaneous. 89 pp.
