This research brief describes work documented in The RAND-ABEL Programming Language: History, Rationale, and Design (R-3274-NA) and The RAND-ABEL Programming Language: Reference Manual (N-2367-1-NA).

RAND has developed a new computer programming language, RAND-ABEL, to improve the interface between policy analysts and computer models. The new language was designed to maximize readability, writability, speed, and portability.
