Influence of the Earth's Core upon the Rate of the Earth's Rotation.

An examination of the way fluid motions in the earth's core proper may cause the earth's rotation rate to vary. The records of the earth's magnetic field since Gauss imply that fluid motions do occur. Dissipative processes in the earth-moon system are of such magnitude that the moon seems unlikely to have been a captive throughout the whole of earth's history.
