A discussion of the motion of electrons in a particular radiofrequency field to determine if confinement is likely. The problem is studied for the case in which collisions of the electrons with other particles are negligible and for the case in which electrons collide only with neutrals. It is concluded that in the first instance the electrons will always remain within a region determined by the magnetic field, initial electron velocity, and tube radius, as long as certain conditions are satisfied. In the second instance, the electrons remain within the tube; however, since diffusion is neglected in the basic equations, the electrons are not necessarily confined
