Data Transmission Errors: Comparison of LF Radio with Telephone Facilities.

A comparison of estimates of probable error rates for a low-frequency radio link for the Minuteman radio launch control system with estimates of error rates for data transmission over telephone facilities. The methods of describing the error performance are different for the two and are translated from one to the other. The tolerances placed on the low-frequency radio link performance seem lenient at first glance, but they cover this performance during a very small proportion of the worst expected operation. When the expected performance is averaged over the year, it compares well with telephone circuit data facilities of excellent quality
