A treatment of a number of topics in the physics of hypervelocity impact. Comparisons are drawn with recent good experimental data and previous penetration theories advanced by the author. Some new calculations on thin-target penetration are presented, and the physics of the process, as deduced from these calculations, is discussed. New comments on the effects of melting on penetration at high velocities are made
