A report on results of a blind competition between experiments performed with a mathematical model of the human respiratory subsystem using an electronic computer and others performed by a team of physicians and chemists working in a surgical laboratory on the same biochemical problems. The model proved adequate to forecast accurately the hchager that will occur in this subsystem when it is subjected to various forms of stress.
