Development and application, by means of an electronic computer, of a method for analyzing magnetic fields by integrals. Results are compared with the true values, and a scheme of numerical integration is devised to ensure suitable accuracy. Finally, this method is successfully applied to the geographical distribution of the daily mean field of disturbance. That part of the observed surface field of external origin is isolated, and atmospheric current functions capable of yielding it are derived.
