ResearchPublished 1963

Translations of three Soviet papers written by Y. Malamaa, O. Avaste, H. Moldau, K. S. Schifrin. They include the formulation of equations for calculating the intensity of diffusely reflected and transmitted light; results of calculations of the spectral distribution of direct and scattered radiation for various conditions of atmospheric turbidity, with regard to the absorption of water vapor, carbon dioxide, and ozone; the achievement of greater accuracy for the approximate solutions to the problem of radiative transfer in the case of anisotropic scattering.
