The Satellite Determination of High-Altitude Water Vapor.
ResearchPublished 1964
This Memorandum suggests that it may not be feasible to study high-altitude water vapor by means of satellite observation of the 1.35-cm water-vapor line profile, because the water-vapor density distributions now expected indicate that such observations will seldom, if ever, show large, easily discernible peaks. Since emission from the earth also greatly reduces the line profile as seen by a satellite, the authors conclude that ground observations seem preferable
