The Contribution of Generally-Neglected Band Systems and Continua to the Absorption Coefficient of High-Temperature Air.

Forrest R. Gilmore

ResearchPublished 1964

A discussion of the molecular band systems and continua which contribute to the absorption coefficient of air between 2000 and 8000 deg K. In the vacuum ultraviolet the major contributors are the oxygen Schumann-Runge continuum, several band systems of nitrogen and nitric oxide, and the photoionization continua of all three molecules.
