An investigation of several methods of instrumentation suitable to a soft-landed probe to measure the Martian atmosphere. The most feasible technique appears to be mass spectrometry, since it is best suited to the type of gas analysis, while being consistent with telemetry, power, weight, and reliability requirements of the package.
