F. Hoyle proposed that asteroids and meteors represent the present status of a population of solar-system planetesimals twice-agglomerated and once-domolished by collision. This Memorandum, applying statistical theory to the problem, shows that, with certain assumptions about the initial distribution of planetesimal mass, Hoyle's theory of planetesimal evolution is supported.
