The second of three Memoranda on the evolution of a Vietnamese village. It deals with the history of Duc Lap village from the close of World War II to the start of the current pacification program in April 1964. It describes in detail the background of the problems of the past being faced in Duc Lap today, and the attitudes of the villagers in revealing this information to the interviewers.
