A demonstration that invariant imbedding techniques are applicable to the numerical solution of a heat equation for inhomogeneous rod, whose straightforward solution can be computationally unstable. This is done by taking the Laplace transform of the equation, which is itself unstable, and deriving corresponding invariant imbedding equations.
