A class of inverse problems is considered in which the local sscattering properties of a medium are estimated on the basis of measurements of diffusely reflected radiation. The phase function is expanded in a series of Legendre polynomials, and the coefficients are determined so as best to explain diffuse reflection measurements. The computational scheme is described, and results are given.
