Description of a method for assessing the effectiveness of alternative airport locations, passenger terminal locations, and mass transportation systems involved in processing air passengers to their destinations in a large metropolitan area. Data inputs to the model are the nodes and arcs of a road travel-time or travel-cost network, the locations of passenger terminals in the network, the times or costs associated with each destination served by each terminal, and the volumes of passenger trips from population centroids. The program, written in FORTRAN IV for the IBM 7044, is appended. It computes volumes of passenger trips processed by each terminal for each trip origin and the average passenger trip times or costs for each terminal and for the entire system. It can also locate passenger terminals or airports that minimize the overall average trip time or cost. (See also RM-5815, RM-5816, RM-5817, RM-5819.)
