The Generalized Outcome of a Class of Machine-Gun Duels
ResearchPublished 1952
An attempt to determine the outcome of a duel between a machine-gun-defended bomber and a machine-gun-armed fighter after the fighter has succeeded in locating the bomber and has initiated a firing pass. One criterion — the maximum bomber kill obtainable by the fighter when the fighter consistently employs the same preferred opening-fire range against the bomber's best choice of a defensive — is selected for resolving the conflict of objectives.
