So Yung Choi is an M.Phil. student at the RAND School of Public Policy and an assistant policy researcher at RAND. Her research interests include homeland security, disaster preparedness, energy reliability, and infrastructure resilience, with a particular interest in safeguarding the critical systems essential for societal stability.
Prior to joining RAND, Choi served as a biostatistician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the University of Hawaiʻi’s John A. Burns School of Medicine. Leveraging her background in risk sciences and statistical modeling, she applies rigorous quantitative methods to analyze vulnerabilities in public systems. Choi holds an M.S. in biostatistics with a graduate certificate in risk sciences and public policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a B.A. in economics with an undergraduate certificate in linguistics from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She is a native Korean speaker and fluent in Japanese.
