Deepthi Jakki

Deepthi Jakki is an M.Phil. student at the RAND School of Public Policy and an assistant policy researcher at RAND. Her research focuses on economic policy, public finance, infrastructure, and macroeconomic systems, with an emphasis on how policy design, regulation, and emerging technologies shape economic resilience and development.

Her work uses data‑driven and computational approaches, including applied econometrics, agent‑based and system‑level modeling, machine learning, network analysis, sentiment analysis, and natural language processing to study complex policy and social systems.

Prior to joining RAND, Jakki conducted academic research at Northeastern University on macroeconomic dynamics, developing analytical tools for policymakers in multi‑country settings. She conducted studies on financial networks and digital financial systems, applying sentiment analysis and text analytics and developing prototype machine‑learning models for anomaly detection. She also served as adjunct faculty teaching machine learning applications for the social sciences. In addition, she brings professional experience as an audit and financial professional across financial services, technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, health care, and nonprofit sectors in the United States and India.

Jakki holds an M.S. in applied economics and an M.B.A. in finance. She is a certified public accountant and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
