RAND Year in Review 2016

Michael D. Rich

Published Jan 19, 2017

The RAND Corporation has a straightforward mission: to help improve policy and decisionmaking through research and analysis. To gauge how well we are carrying it out, President and CEO Michael Rich considers RAND's three-tier mission test:

  1. The research and analysis address issues at or near the top of the policy agenda or help shape that agenda.
  2. The results reach key decisionmakers and the broader public, improving the quality of policy discussions and debate.
  3. The findings and recommendations lead directly to improvements in policy and decisionmaking.

The 2016 Year in Review offers a year-end assessment of RAND's recent achievements, with a focus on impact as demonstrated by our Tier 3 successes.
