This Note presents the Defense and Development in Sub-Saharan Africa database, a collection of statistics from various sources, chiefly the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The statistics in the database cover 41 African countries for the years 1970-1985 and fall under ten main headings: debt, price indexes, income, military expenditures, foreign military presence, government expenditures, national accounts, development assistance, social/political indicators, and weather.
