Presentation of a method in radar performance analysis for fluctuating targets, for deriving the characteristic function of the video integrator output (assuming pulsed waveforms) for completely arbitrary probability distribution functions of the signal fluctuations, and for completely arbitrary correlation properties. The forms taken by the result are exhibited in some special cases, and computational schemes based on the characteristic functions thus obtained are discussed.
