Costing Tomorrow's Weapon Systems

A text of a briefing to an Air Force Systems Command's (AFSC) Management Conference held at Monterey, California, May 1-5, 1962. Methods are discussed for costing future weapon systems and for considering uncertainties in advance of final decisions on system development. It is concluded that with the greater emphasis given to future system costing, the AFSC should have a strong in-house cost analysis capability within the foreseeable future. This should have a salutary effect on financial management throughout the Command.
