A survey of certain aspects of the mathematics of control problems. Examples of control problems in various areas of application are given to illustrate what is meant by a control problem and to motivate the mathematical formulation of the problem. The Memorandum gives the mathematical formulation, existence and uniqueness theorems, various results characterizing an optimal control, and the relationship of these results of each other. Computation techniques and difficulties are then discussed, as well as differential games
