An Analysis of Major Scheduling Techniques in the Defense Systems Environment

A survey of the major scheduling techniques currently available to project management. The nature of the weapon systems acquisition environment with its inherent problems is examined in detail. Several scheduling devices (th Gantt chart, milestone chart, line-of-balance technique, critical-path method, and PERT) are evaluated and contrasted through a hypothetical weapon system. The extent to which existing techniques meet scheduling demands and areas for additional study are also discussed.
