In spring 2005, the Los Angeles City Council established a Commission to make recommendations to improve Los Angeles Unified School District’s governance system. RAND provided research support to this Commission. This report presents a summary and analysis of governance options. It is based on testimony presented before the Commission and a review of current research.
The research described in this report was conducted within RAND Education for the Presidents’ Joint Commission on LAUSD Governance.
This report is part of the RAND Corporation working paper series. RAND working papers are intended to share researchers' latest findings and to solicit informal peer review. They have been approved for circulation by RAND but may not have been formally edited or peer reviewed.
