Angus Cooper is a research assistant at RAND Europe working within the Defence, Security and Justice Team as part of the Policy Analysis workstream. His research interests include space security, hybrid warfare and resilience; the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and drones; geopolitical grand strategy; and the climate-security nexus.
Prior to joining RAND Europe, Cooper gained experience in the space sector and was a postgraduate intern research analyst within the Strategic Foresight team at the UK Ministry of Defence (Defence Futures). He holds an International Master’s (Int.M.) degree in security, intelligence and strategic studies from the University of Glasgow, Dublin City University, and Charles University, Prague. His master’s thesis focused on analysing the role of disinformation and misinformation in the (non)securitisation of climate change in the United Kingdom. Additionally, Cooper achieved an M.A. (Soc. Sci.) with Honours in politics from his bachelor’s studies at the University of Glasgow.
