Cade Wingo is an M.Phil. student at the RAND School of Public Policy and an assistant policy researcher at RAND. Prior to joining RAND, he graduated from UCLA with degrees in political science and Chinese language and culture.
At UCLA, Cade worked as a research assistant in the department of political science on the Interstate War Battle dataset. He collected and synthesized data from primary sources detailing battle information, focusing primarily on the Chinese front of World War II and the Indo-Pakastani War of 1971. Through this project, he analyzed sources for inherent bias by translating documents through a culturally and linguistically informed lens. Additionally, Cade worked in K–12 education, serving in both administrative and teaching roles focused on supporting students with learning differences.
Cade has an advanced working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, and experience in using language and cultural understanding to conduct qualitative and quantitative research. His interests include U.S. security policy in the Asia-Pacific, nuclear deterrence, and education policy.
