Pediatric firearm injuries and mortality concentrate in states or urban neighborhoods with high rates of poverty, unemployment, racial segregation, family instability, and other measures of social vulnerability; permissive gun laws; and reduced access to quality health care, education, and recreational opportunities. In this issue of Pediatrics, Diaz and colleagues reaffirm these findings with a ZIP code level analysis of pediatric firearm injuries and deaths across the United States and their correlation with a range of neighborhood and state-level factors.
