A discussion of a single-degree-of-freedom motion of a rigid right circular cylinder (i.e., rotation about any axis normal to the longitudinal axis). The aerodynamic static and damping stability of the cylinder is used in the equations of motion for cases in which (1) the translational velocity vector and the longitudinal axis form the plane of rotation and (2) the longitudinal axis lies in the plane of rotation perpendicular to the translational velocity vector.
