Christoph Koerbitz

Christoph Koerbitz is a research group director at RAND Europe, leading the Education, Employment and Skills (EES) team. He oversees the entire portfolio of research, evaluation and analytical projects.

As a mixed-methods social researcher and evaluation specialist, Koerbitz has 20 years of experience undertaking applied social policy research and evaluation for government departments, regulators, local authorities, and a wide range of public and third-sector organisations. 

Before joining RAND Europe, Koerbitz led the research and evaluation team at TASO – the What Works Centre that focuses on reducing inequalities amongst young people entering higher education and progressing into employment. His role as the centre’s chief research officer entailed conceiving and then commissioning experimental and quasi-experimental studies (RCTs and QEDs), qualitative theory-based evaluations, as well as a range of other data analytics and evidence synthesis projects. While working as Senior Research Director and Joint Interim Head of Evaluation at Kantar Public UK, Koerbitz led the design and delivery of a range of major evaluation contracts for central government clients. He also worked as an associate lecturer at Northampton University, where he taught qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Koerbitz holds an M.A. in sociology from the University of Vienna. He is an elected board member (trustee) of the UK Evaluation Society (UKES), where he champions the role of the evaluation profession by helping create useful evidence that supports better policymaking. He is also a member of the Evaluation and Trial Advice Panel (ETAP), part of the Evaluation Task Force in the Cabinet Office.
