Christian Trotti

Christian Trotti is a defense analyst at RAND. His work encompasses several areas of research related to the future of warfare, including: emerging technologies and revolutions in military affairs; nuclear and conventional force planning; and challenges at the nexus of defense acquisition, budgets, and industry. His skills include project management, business development, and writing, editing, and research—with proficiency in: theory and framework building; research design; military and campaign analysis; defense budget and program analysis; case study analysis; literature reviews; and wargame/TTX design and execution.

Trotti was formerly an Assistant Director of Forward Defense (FD) at the Atlantic Council, where he helped launch FD as a new initiative to generate innovative ideas and connect key stakeholders in the defense ecosystem. He led FD's portfolio on defense innovation and modernization by coordinating program strategy, project management, and fundraising efforts, as well as engaging a large network of corporate and government sponsors. He also co-authored and supported a variety of studies on defense strategy, nuclear deterrence, and military technology.

Trotti received his M.A. in Security Studies and B.S. in Foreign Service from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. During his graduate studies, he served as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate and graduate coursework, a Research Assistant specializing in historical military case studies and irregular warfare, and the Associate Editor for Defense at the Georgetown Security Studies Review (GSSR).
